About StratEngine
StratEngine finds TheSTRAT candlestick setups across US stocks, grades each one, and either alerts you or places trades in your Alpaca paper account inside limits you set.
What it does
- Scans. Every minute while the market is open, StratEngine checks your watchlist or the 100 most active US stocks. It labels candles on the monthly, weekly, daily, 60-minute and 15-minute timeframes (1, 2U, 2D, 3) and names setups such as 2-1-2, 3-1-2 and 1-2-2 RevStrat.
- Grades. Each setup gets a 0–100 checklist score from timeframe continuity, reward to risk, entry timing and, for options, liquidity. The grade is a checklist, not a probability of profit.
- Alerts. In alerts mode, you get an in-app alert and, if you turn it on, a phone notification with the entry, stop, target and a trade idea. You decide whether to trade.
- Auto-trades with paper money. In auto mode, StratEngine places and manages orders in your Alpaca paper account: one order per setup, sized from your risk limit, with exits at the stop, the target, the end of the day for day trades, and before options expire. A daily loss limit stops new trades for the day.
- Keeps a trade history. Every closed trade is recorded with its setup, grade, orders, prices and result, so you can see which setups work.
How the Alpaca connection works
When you choose Connect with Alpaca, you sign in on Alpaca's own website and approve StratEngine. StratEngine never sees your Alpaca password.
- What StratEngine asks for: access to your account information, permission to place and cancel orders, and access to market data.
- Paper only: StratEngine requests access to your paper account only and refuses live-account connections. It does not trade real money.
- What it does with that access: reads prices and your paper account's buying power, positions and orders; places orders only when you've turned on auto-trading, only within your settings; and cancels or closes orders and positions it opened, or when you press Cancel, Sell now or Close all.
- Your control: you can pause the bot, close any position, or disconnect Alpaca from your StratEngine Account page at any time. You can also revoke StratEngine's access from your Alpaca dashboard.
Important. Trading stocks and options involves risk, and options can lose their entire value quickly. StratEngine is software that follows fixed rules; it does not give personalized investment advice, and no setup, grade or result predicts future returns. Paper trading results are simulated and usually look better than real trading because fills, spreads and slippage differ. Alpaca does not warrant or guarantee that StratEngine will work as advertised or expected.
Who runs it
StratEngine is an independent project. It is invite-only while in beta and free to use. It doesn't charge fees, sell your data, or receive payment from brokers.
